Maya de Vitry

Energized by the spontaneity of live performance and a revelatory pursuit of truth in her lyric writing,Maya de Vitry returns with her fifth full-length album,All My Faith. Prioritizing presence and grit overstudio polish, she sounds joyously at home in the alt-country and indie-folk realms. From canyons to kitchens, from cold lakes to highway truck stops, the songs form a vibrant collage of joy, sorrow, and gut-wrenchinghonesty. Whether spinning an inspirational tale about hungover bachelorettesat the Nashville airport or exploring the prison of our own adaptations, de Vitry brings a groundedconfidence and quiet charisma rooted in her belief in the power of song to change us.“I was nurturing self-acceptance as my North Star.I can observe other people all day long but havebeen afraid to write about my own heart in such detail—opening up about my relationship with my partnerand my relationship with touring,” Maya reflects. “I also wanted real self-acceptance in my singing, and Iwanted all the other musicians in the room to understand just how much I trusted and accepted theirinstincts. When the band realized that I was planning to do no edits whatsoever on these tracks, the level of commitment from everyone just soared. It was a really exciting atmosphere in the studio,”de Vitry recalls. And indeed, the band’s playing is responsive, uninhibited, and emotionally spot on. Recorded and mixedby5-time Grammy Award-winning engineer Sean Sullivanandself-produced by de Vitry,All MyFaithis a buoyant gathering of road-tested songs brought to life by a cast of her closest confidantes andcollaborators. For pedal steel and guitar, she enlistedSpencer CullumandEthan Ballinger (bothmembers of Miranda Lambert’s touring band), alongsideJo Schornikow(of alt-country/indie bandPhosphorescent) on keys. They are joined by frequent members of de Vitry’s live band:EthanJodziewiczon bass,Dominic Billetton drums, andShelby MeansandJoel Timmonson harmonyvocals. The album opens with a joyful surrender to time, love, and the unknown in the title track, “All My Faith.” Itexpresses a commitment, not just to a person, but to showing up with true engagement in togetherness.Atits heart, the album reflects onthe ways human beings choose to care for one another in myriadforms and on the generative healing and wisdom that emerge from our relationships—with eachother and with the natural world. These 10 songs are the intoxicating sound of faith in action—abandleader fully trusting in her life experiences, her craft, her collaborators, and the moment. It capturesthe presence she has been cultivating in her live shows, and hearing it magnified on record is its ownrevelation.
